Sick day

“Hi, Boss!  It’s me.  I’ll need the day off of work today because I’m really sick.”

“O.K.  No problem.  Take it easy and get some rest.”

“Thanks!”

I hang up the phone and crawl into bed.

*suddenly awakened from my daydream by two screaming kids*

Who takes care of the stay-at-home mom when she’s sick?  I just spent two days at home with a fever and I still had to take care of my responsibilities.  I still had to change diapers.  I still had to fix the kids their meals.  I still had to monitor their behavior.  Of course, I spent most of my time crashed on the couch with Nick Jr. on the TV all day long.  My poor husband had to come home and do my job after he’s done his all day.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a “Mommy’s sick today” service?  I could just call them up and they would show up at the house to take care of the kids and the house while I stayed in bed all day.  They could even bring me chicken noodle soup and orange juice at lunch time.  Maybe they could even watch the kids while I went to the doctor.

That would be nice.

I’ve got the anti-biotic in my system now, so hopefully I’ll be back on the job soon.
