B.F.F. (updated)

I can update this post now and explain what this picture is all about…I think most of you already knew already…I just had to hold out because of a slight technicality. This is a picture of my daughter and her best friend. They had to say goodbye to each other last week and it was a heart wrenching moment. If you know my daughter and look at my her face in this picture you can tell she’s trying super hard to keep it together. She’s trying hard to smile and look brave. If you look close enough you’ll see a tear in her eye and everything in her wants to break down and cry…which is exactly what she did after this picture was taken. She went to bed that night sobbing. After about 20 minutes of hearing her cry in her room, we got her up and I took her upstairs and we cuddled on the couch and watched a movie and had girl time. She got to stay up until 11:30.
I can’t shelter my children from loss forever. They have to deal with heartbreak at some point in their lives. It is so difficult to watch them suffer and we can only do so much to help them cope. I often wonder if God looks at us with the same amount of pain as He watches us deal with suffering in our lives. He knows we have to deal with difficult situations and He can’t completely shelter us from facing them…especially when difficulties help us grow. But, He does want to offer us comfort and I know He wants to hold us when we don’t understand the circumstances of life.
