Have you heard this actual recording from BlondeStar?
Well…maybe it’s not actually real…
Did you ever notice that a lot of bloggers like to insert links into their text so that we can better understand what they are talking about in their blog? I wonder why they do that?
Anyways, I just wanted to give an update on these past couple of days. Yesterday was J’s day off so we took the kids on a short road trip to Sisters. We actually didn’t stop in town…we didn’t want to be accused of being cone-lickers (as Donald Miller calls Sister’s tourists in Through Painted Deserts). Instead we drove through and went up to the McKenzie Pass and checked out the fields of lava at the Dee Wright Observatory. My daughter calls it a castle. She even asked if a queen and king lived there.
It was a fun, yet short, trip. We got home just in time to run over to the church to see the Salvador concert. That was a fantastic concert. What really got me was the WorldVision video they played before the concert. I tried hard not to let tears fall down my face. Especially when it came to all of those babies in Africa whose parents are dying off. It rips my heart out. Speaking of Africa, did I mention that J and I are trying to go to the AIDS conference? Maybe we’ll make some more adoption connections there.
We got home late, but not too late to catch my friend Deb online. I love Yahoo Messenger…without it how would we keep in touch, aside from our cell phones? Much cheaper than gas. (My brother-in-law in Des Moines gave me that last link. That’s Des Moines, Iowa…not Des Moines, Washington)
I got a good night’s sleep (aside from a nightmare I had about J divorcing me…I may talk about that later..Ugh!) I woke up freaked from my dream and J apologized for being a jerk in my dream and told me that I should just take it easy all day and do whatever I like. He made coffee and waffles and cut up fresh strawberries and brought me breakfast in bed. I finished reading The Barbarian Way by Erwin Raphael McManus. McManus is a pastor of Mosaic in California. I love this book (and most other books he’s written). Great book…I want to give it to everybody I know.
After finishing that one I picked up a book I’ve had for awhile by Maeve Binchy. It’s called Nights of Rain and Stars. I’m embarrassed to say I read the whole thing today. It was total luxery to stay in bed all day and read. Some people like to geocache on their days off. Others like to watch a football game. Others like to go shopping. I like to read. My husband (whom I forgive for divorcing me in my dream last night) is wonderful. He brought me my meals today and kept the kids entertained so I could relax. He even brought my a taco salad for dinner because I was having a serious craving for Mexican food. I even heard the vac running at one point during the day.
Well…that’s about it. The kids are upstairs watching Spongebob Squarepants. It’s a little past their bedtime, but I’m so relaxed I don’t care. Maybe they’ll sleep in tomorrow.
